Chester Zoo Holding Areas – New combined MEP installation
System Electrical group secured this project with McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd for the supply, installation and commissioning of a new mechanical and electrical installation to this new development at Chester Zoo.
The holding areas, is a new facility adjacent to the main site of the zoo and provides temporary behind the scenes habitats for recovery, quarantining or whilst other housings are being refurbished / re-developed.

Scope of works
- New distribution system including 1800 Amp main distribution panel, section boards and final distribution boards
- 900 kVA back-up generator system
- Site wide Cold Water service pipe installation
- Site wide fire hydrant installation
- Installation of new cable containment systems
- New lighting scheme to the development
- Installation of small power across the site
- Installation of Ventilation systems & electric heating to animal habitats
- Fire alarm systems with site wide Nimbus monitoring
- Test, certification and commission
- Production of as installed drawings, operation & maintenance manuals
